Background

On 17-18 September 2022, Faculty of Veterinary MedicineUniversitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia, organized International Conference of Advanced Veterinary Science and Technologies for Sustainable Development (ICAVESS) virtually.

Following a successful collaboration during ICAVESS in 2021, UGM, AAVS, and WOAH RRAP agreed to organise a joint session again and invited the University of Tokyo and Rakuno Gakuen University, which are AAVS Members and also members of the WOAH Collaborating Centre consortium for Food Safety to take the leading role in organising the session. 

In line with the theme of ICAVESS “Multidiscipline Collaboration for The Innovative and Productive Development in Veterinary Science” and the mandate of the WOAH Collaborating Centre consortium for Food Safety, the topic of the session has been decided as: “AMR and food safety: One Health education and contribution of VEEs”.

Objectives:

  • To raise awareness about importance of One Health approach to control AMR 
  • To highlight the needs and opportunities for capacity building related to control of AMR
  • To discuss contribution of VEEs in the region on promoting and facilitating One Health approach to AMR
